Contribution of Particulate and Mineral-Associated Organic Matter to Potential Denitrification of Agricultural Soils

چکیده

Water-extractable organic carbon (WEOC) is considered as the most important (C) source for denitrifying organisms, but contribution of individual matter (OM) fractions (i.e., particulate (POM) and mineral-associated (MOM)) to its release and, thus, denitrification remains unresolved. Here we tested short-time effects POM MOM on potential estimated POM- MOM-derived WEOC CO 2 production three agricultural topsoils. Suspensions bulk soils with without addition soil-derived or were incubated 24 h under anoxic conditions. Acetylene inhibition was used determine respective product ratio at constant nitrate supply. Normalized added OC, production, total denitrification, ratios much stronger than those MOM. While OM generally increased (N O + N )-N/CO -C ratio, O/(N ) changed differently depending soil. Gas emissions shares initial then estimate , O, production. OC derived from accounted 53–85% released 15–47%. Total gas partly over- underestimated, mainly due nonproportional responses fractions. Our findings show that plays a role in providing substrates during less dominant POM. We conclude not predictable based C distribution over alone. Instead, strength plus WEOC’s quality turned out decisive determinants denitrification.

contribution of setting to the study of characters and the main idea in e. brontes: wuthering heights and t. hardys: return of the native.

this thesis aims to adduce an unmitigated and comprehensive explication concerning the relationship of three significant elements of fiction: setting, chracter and theme. my research is basically placed on two outstanding novels of the 19th century: emily brontes wuthering heights and thomas hardys return of the native. my endeavour lies in studying the correlation among the three above-mention...

The Effect of Carbon Mineralization on Denitrification Kinetics in Mineral and Organic Soils

Rates of denitrification and organic carbon (C) mineralization were measured simultaneously in soil suspensions maintained at 30°C under anoxic conditions. Nine mineral and seven organic soils were used in the study. Disappearance of NO3~ and production of CO2 were measured at various times during the 12-day incubation. Labeled NO, was used to differentiate denitrification from immobilization a...

The role of DOM sorption to mineral surfaces in the preservation of organic matter in soils

Sorption of dissolved organic matter (DOM) is considered to be a major process in the preservation of organic matter (OM) in marine sediments. Evidence for this hypothesis includes the close relationship between sediment surface area (SA) and organic carbon (OC) concentrations and the strongly reduced biological degradability after DOM has sorbed to mineral surfaces. The aim of this study was t...

Particulate matter emissions from biochar-amended soils as a potential tradeoff to the negative emission potential

Novel carbon sequestration strategies such as large-scale land application of biochar may provide sustainable pathways to increase the terrestrial storage of carbon. Biochar has a long residence time in the soil and hence comprehensive studies are urgently needed to quantify the environmental impacts of large-scale biochar application. In particular, black carbon emissions from soils amended wi...
